TULIP SYMBOLISM AND MEANING

Say it with tulips

Thought to have originated in the mountains of Central Asia and then cultivated by the Persians in the 10th Century it was the Ottomans that brought the tulip to the west in the 15th Century as their most prized flower and symbol of their empire.

Since then they have become universally associated with the Netherlands as their national flower.

Grown each year between April and May the most famous of all the tulip fields The Keukenhof plants 7 million tulip bulbs every spring and has become the worlds largest flower exhibition.

Since the Victorian age the varied colours of the tulips have been known to carry special meanings with the red flowers symbolising endless and eternal love and the yellow symbolising hope and friendship.

At Lily and Dutch we include meaning cards with every order letting you know the meaning of your chosen colour or letting the receiver of your gift know why you chose the colour especially for them-

The Red Tulip- Endless and eternal love.

The Yellow Tulip- Friendship, hope and cheerful thoughts.

The White Tulip- Forgiveness or new beginnings.

The Blue Tulip- Peace, calm and tranquillity.

The Orange Tulip- Happiness, joy and special connections.

The Pink Tulip- Affection, warm wishes and good health.

Unsure of one particular meaning then the mixed colours are the option for you. These include a general tulip meaning card and all cards come with a blank space on the back for your own private message,
